Funeral services for Louis Jackson Bamburg, 77, of Newellton, will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Young’s Community Funeral Home in Winnsboro, LA, with Stacie Lonadier officiating. Interment will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery Hwy 605 Newellton, LA.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 1 PM – 3 PM at Young’s Community Funeral Home.
Mr. Louis was born on Sunday, December 30, 1945, and passed from this life on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Plantation Manor in Winnsboro. Louis J. Bamburg will be lovingly remembered by family and friends as “Jackie”. Jackie had a sense of humor that would keep people entertained when fortunate to be in his company. His love of music introduced many of his nieces and nephews to 8 track tapes and kept him dancing to the very end. Jackie’s generosity of spirit will leave an imprint on the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Jackie was born into a close-knit family and grew up in Newellton, LA. His family attended Bethany Baptist Church. He attended Newellton Elem./High school before being drafted into the Army and spent most of his service years in Germany. Upon returning from military, he made his home in Newellton and was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Tensas Parish Police Jury until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Courtney Bamburg; mother, Lula Walker Bamburg; brothers, Charlie, Johnny, James, and Steve Bamburg; and his sisters, Arlie Mae, Evelyn, Janie, Patricia (Pat) Carpenter.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are his brother, Robert L. Bamburg of Newellton, his sisters, Marie Bamburg Freeman (Cleo) of Natchitoches, and Gayle Bamburg of Severville, TN.
He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Pallbearers will Tony Coleman, Coty Daves, Andy Mize, Jonathan Bamburg, Dylan Bamburg, Jason Wiley. Alternate pallbearers will be Butch Thornton and Brad Guree.
