Obituary for Gene and Mary Hazel
Memorial service for Gene Terrell Hazel, 90, and Mary Hazel, 87, of St. Joseph, LA, will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Young’s Community Memorial Funeral Home of Winnsboro, LA, with Bro. Larry Foster officiating. Mr. Gene passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022, and Mrs. Mary passed away on December 12, 2018. Services are under the direction of Young’s Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 10 A.M. until the time of service in the chapel of Young’s Community Memorial of Winnsboro.
Mr. Gene and Mrs. Mary were married 68 years. Gene was a retired ginner from Delta Gin in Newellton, LA. They were owners and operators of Lake Bruin Marina for 25 years. Mary was a homemaker that had too many jobs to list. The hardest job being putting up with Gene and taking care of him. They are preceded in death by their daughter, Sandra Boatright and son-in-law, Paul Boatright.
Survivors left to cherish their memory are their daughter, Bobbie Hunt; son, Richard Hazel; and daughter, Janet Ezell and husband Johnnie Ezell.
Mr. Gene and Mrs. Mary are survived by 7 grandchildren, Cole Arnold, Brandi Shivley, Kristy Barnett, Nathan Jones, Logan Jones, Lindsey Beach and Andy Hazel; and 8 great-grandchildren, Emily Arnold, Matthew Arnold, Alison Arnold, Ty Barnett, Callie Barnett, Ryleigh Jones, Adelyn Jones, and Luke Beach. They are also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
