Carl "Bubba" Evans Jr.

Funeral services for Carl Marvin Evans, Jr. of Winnsboro, Louisiana, will be held at Apostolic Tabernacle Church, 2629 Hwy. 130, Winnsboro, Louisiana. Visitation will be Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. M. R. Couch officiating.

Carl Marvin Evans, Jr., known by most of us as “Bubba,” was born March 2, 1957 in Delhi, LA and passed from this life at his home in Winnsboro, LA on August 3, 2023, at the age of 66, after fighting a brief battle with cancer. Bubba was a quiet man, but one of the hardest working men you would ever meet. Whether he was working on his job, mowing yards, or building a new deer stand, he never stopped until the job was finished. He always gave 110% of his energy to whatever he was working on, never thinking that he could stop and eat lunch or even supper until the job was finished. He always had a desire to help others. He often came home after a long hot day of working and would get on his lawn mower and mow his yard, the neighbor’s yards and all their ditches down the road free of charge. And don’t dare let someone throw out any trash on his freshly mowed ditches!

Having grown up near the woods, he developed a love for nature at a very young age. As a young child his grandpa took him hunting for the first time. From then on, he was hunting in the woods near his home. He always said how much at peace he felt outdoors with just the wind blowing in the trees and the sounds of wildlife surrounding him. He loved deer hunting and teaching his grandkids how to hunt. He was always happy when he bagged a big buck. Bubba always felt if he was a blessing to someone else, he would be blessed and blessed indeed he was! God blessed him with grandchildren and one special great-grandchild that were the joy of his heart as well as many devoted friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Carl M. Evans, Sr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Sue Evans; one son, Jarred Lee Evans; one daughter, Jana Lauren Griggs and husband, Jason; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Evans, Ashlyn Evans, Brooklyn Hitt, Hunter Evans, Dylan Griggs and Mark Griggs; one great-granddaughter, Ivory Nicole Adams; his mother, Alice Shaw; three sisters, Wanda Brown, Glenda Bumpers, Earlene Watson and husband, Jeff; three brothers, Sheldon Evans and wife, Toni, Danny Evans, and Kenny Evans; special niece, Lacey Winters; and special great-nephew, Braxton Winters; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
