Obituary for Betty Guthrie (Jones)

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Sue Guthrie, of Jigger, will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2021, in the sanctuary of Jigger Apostolic Church at 1:00 PM, with Bro. Hurby Hitt officiating. Interment to follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Betty was born on June 24, 1951 and passed from this life on July 9, 2021. She was married to the love of her life and best friend, Pete, for 49 years. Betty enjoyed traveling and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was her grandsons’ biggest fan, as she loved to watch them play baseball and football and she took great pleasure in shopping with her granddaughter. Betty was employed with Franklin Parish School System for over 20 years as a school teacher at Fort Necessity High School. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Jack Jones and Lola Martin Jones; and brother, Carl “Sonny Man” Jones.

Survivors are her husband, Lonnie “Pete” Guthrie, Jr.; daughter, Mandy Hutson and husband Dee; son, Toby Guthrie; grandchildren, Katie Hutson, Gage Hutson, and Brody Hutson; brother, Paul Ray Jones and wife Kay; and sisters, Lola Jane Hitt, Jacqueline Parker, and Joyce Taylor. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Paul Garrett Jones, Kolby Poindexter, Jarred Griffing, Christopher Guthrie, Casey Luke Nielsen, and Alan Hitt.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, July 11, 2021, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the church.
